What Is Agility?
Agility is great fun for handler and dog!! It is no wonder that it has become a very popular past time among dog owners throughout the world. Many people find Agility much more interesting and challenging than obedience work, and Standard Poodles excel at the sport. The Standard Poodle has the athletic ability, drive, trainability, and intelligence that is required to be a serious competitor in the Agility ring.
At Amazing Poodles, we strive to produce beautiful, healthy show quality dogs who will excel in the sport. We have been involved in Agility since 1994 as a Masters Judge, a competitor, and as an instructor at our Iron Mountain K-9 Agility Center.
Our first Agility dogs were the beautiful and talented full siblings Garahlee Brigadier General, AADC and Garahlee Ebony Jewel AADC (Averina's Dexstar x High Profile Star of Animation).
Today we compete with our two Standard Poodle females --- 4-year-old Best Puppy In Show winner CH Taywyn Flarebouyant Kalliste- MADC (AM/CAN CH Carringtons All Fired Up x Myjoys Naughty Nicole TP) and 3-year-old Best Puppy In Show winner CH. Taywyn Justa Wild Jazzabelle -MADC (CH Khalsa Dante Teddy Chia x Myjoys Naughty Nicole TP). Both dogs compete at the "Masters" level in AAC Agility and are exceptional athletes with tons of drive.
At Amazing Poodles, we make breeding and promoting our Standard Poodles for Agility a priority. Kalli produced her first litter of puppies in November of 2008. They were sired by Am/Can. CH Moonstone Sir Lancelot (CH. Shalimar's Rev It Up x D'Kamron Monet 11) owned by Sheila Parsons of Bellingham, WA. We bred to "Jacque" because he is structurally correct, has the temperament and athleticism we demand in our breeding program, AND he is pursuing a career in agility. From their litter of 8 puppies, all 8 will be going on to do agility, and 3 will also be competing in the conformation ring.
We are serious about our Agility/show dogs, therefore we DO give priority to new owners who will pursue the sport of Agility with their dogs after they have finished showing in the conformation ring. We limit our breeding, and almost always have a wait list for our puppies.
If you are interested in owning an "Amazing" Poodle with whom you can enjoy the Agility lifestyle, look no further we have the puppy for you!! Simply email us your request to reserve a puppy. We will place your name on our wait list to ensure that you will be considered for a puppy from one of our future litters.
PLEASE NOTE : Showing in conformation is NOT a prerequisite to owning an "Amazing" Standard Poodle Puppy. We do sell companion puppies. However, we encourage all new owners to participate on some type of sporting/obedience activity with their dogs. Agility, obedience and/or show homes ARE preferred.
